We Saved Market Match
Our partnership with Save Market Match Coalition was a success—our advocacy worked to save Market Match. The final 2026-2027 budget includes $15 million for the California Nutrition Incentive Program (CNIP), the program that funds Market Match. The budget will cover Market Match incentives, as well as WIC & the Senior Farmers Market program, through the end of 2027.
This was an especially challenging year for budget negotiations. We are grateful for the many calls, legislative visits, e-mails, and postcards made by supporters. Thank you to the Governor, Assembly, and Senate for recognizing the importance of these food access programs. It takes a village.
Looking forward, we are planning for the for the 2027-2028 state budget process with our Coalition partners. The 2027 election will welcome a new governor and legislative leaders we will engage with. Our hope is to achieve our longer-term goal of continuous CNIP funding. We look forward to collaborating with the newly elected state leadership to continue to protect and strengthen vital funding for food access. Our work together lifts up local, fresh foods grown by California's small to mid-size farmers.
