In Memoriam
We are deeply saddened to share the news that we recently lost three beloved members of our farmers market community: Rick Lafranchi, Larry Tristano, and Salomon "Juan/John" Reyes. Like many of you, we have known them for years and will always remember their kindness and support for farmers markets.
Larry Eugene Tristano, Triple T Farm and Ranch
Larry Eugene Tristano passed on March 24, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on February 12, 1947, Larry lived in Santa Rosa, California and was the owner of Triple T, a family-run, sustainable organic farm in Santa Rosa. Larry was passionate about farming, fishing, food, hunting, and classic cars, but most of all his family. He had a tough guy persona, but he really had a heart of gold. After having lost nearly everything in the 2020 Glass/Shady Fires, he worked to re-build his greenhouses, plantings, and more. He loved going to the farmers markets and interacting with his customers and other farmers.
Salomon "Juan/John" Reyes, Chincholio Family Farm
Salomon Reyes passed on March 26, 2026 at the age of 71. He was born in June 1954 and lived in Modesto. Salomon worked with the Chincholio family and attended farmers markets for decades, where he built strong connections with so many producers and friends who had the chance to know him. Salomon worked with his wife Maria (pictured below) who he loved spending time with.
Salomon's family created a GoFundMe for the cost of his burial and memorial. Any support for Maria and Salomon’s family during this time is deeply appreciated.
Richard Ray Lafranchi, Nicasio Valley Cheese Company
Richard Ray Lafranchi passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026 at the age of 74. Born on September 6, 1951 in Petaluma, Rick grew up in Nicasio on his family’s dairy farm. Rick built his career around founding and growing small businesses rooted in the fabric of their communities. Rick worked with his family dairy and co-founded Nicasio Valley Cheese company in 2010. He thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to promote West Marin agriculture and his cheeses while happily engaging with customers at farmers markets and stores throughout the Bay Area. Throughout Rick’s life he was a strong advocate for local agriculture and was a local baseball coach.
