Kitchen Operations Lead - NUSA

NUSA is a fast-growing food start-up on a mission to share the vibrant, authentic flavors of Indonesia with the Bay Area. We're looking for a hands-on, versatile Kitchen Operations Lead who loves both savory cooking and baking, and is excited to help build something special with us.
About the Role:
You'll take the lead in our kitchen, managing production for both our Indonesian savory dishes and signature sweets. You'll plan production schedules, coordinate the kitchen team, and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead savory and bakery production to ensure consistent taste, quality, and presentation.
Manage prep lists, daily schedules, and production timelines based on sales, catering, and farmers markets.
Prepare both savory dishes and Indonesian baked goods following authentic recipes.
Train and guide junior and prep kitchen staff in techniques and kitchen best practices.
Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and food-safe at all times.
Track inventory, assist with ordering, and minimize food waste.
Collaborate with the owners on menu development and seasonal specials.
Troubleshoot and problem-solve quickly while keeping a positive, supportive team environment.
Experience with farmers markets or catering operations is a huge plus.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Who We're Looking For:
2+ years of professional kitchen leadership experience (culinary or bakery side).
Strong baking and pastry skills preferred, especially experience with Southeast Asian desserts.
Passionate about both savory and sweet production, and comfortable switching between the two.
Highly organized, good with planning, and calm under pressure.
A natural coach and team player who lifts others up.
Excited about authentic global cuisines, experience with Indonesian, Malaysian, or Singaporean flavors is a huge plus (but not required if you're eager to learn).
Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds and work active kitchen shifts.
